Call for Scores

What's happening?

​As part of our 2021-2022 season, Virginia Bronze is excited to announce a concert program in spring of 2022 that will exclusively feature unpublished works for handbells. To that end, we are partnering with Vreana in announcing a Call for Scores!

How to get involved

Virginia Bronze invites composers to contribute unpublished works of 2-6 minutes in length for handbell ensemble with the following available equipment:
  • 6.5 Octaves (G2-C9) Handbells
  • 6 Octaves (C2-C8) Handchimes
  • 3 Octaves (C4-C7) Petit & Fritsen Handbells
  • ​2 Octaves (C5-C7) Silver Melody Bells
  • Auxiliary percussion/rhythm/keyboard instruments
The winners will be notified by March 2022 and will receive:
  • Performance by Virginia Bronze in June 2022 in the Washington D.C. area
  • ​$100 honorarium for each piece selected for the program
  • Audio and video files of the Performance

Submission Details - New Deadline: June 1, 2022

Please send your submission to director@vabronze.org containing the following:
  • Link to a PDF containing the complete score and parts (Include composer and composition name in the file name)
  • Link to an audio file of the composition (MIDI generated recording is acceptable)
  • Composer contact information (name, address, phone number, and email)
  • Composer bio (max. 150 words)

Additional Information

Virginia Bronze requests a gratis sync license and permission for future performances for as long as the composer is sole copyright holder of the submission. Information about how to stay the sole copyright holder can be found on Vreana's Information page for publishers.
