CHIME LOAN PROGRAM

THE PURPOSE OF
THE PROGRAM

Virginia Bronze has created this program in order to expand access to handbells and handchimes for the next generation of handbell musicians through community outreach in area schools. Our hope is to help broaden schools' general music education program by providing students and schools with fair and equitable access to an instrument outside of what they might otherwise be exposed to through the general music curriculum.

WHO RECEIVES
THE HANDCHIMES

The program is conducted through an application process, open to all schools in the Fairfax County division. However, top priority is given to Title l schools. Virginia Bronze selects a school from the completed applications received and the handchimes are loaned for the duration of the current school year. Based on usage and a school's interest to continue the program, Virginia Bronze will consider loan renewal for the following school year. There is not an active application for the program at this time.

WHAT IS RECEIVED

Virginia Bronze presents a three-octave set of Malmark Choirchimes to the selected recipients. In addition, the chosen school receives a copy of Ring, Dance, Play as a resource to the music teachers, offering instructional lessons and information regarding teaching handchimes to students.

VIRGINIA BRONZE'S INVOLVEMENT IN
THE PROGRAM

Once a school is selected and the handchimes have been administered, Virginia Bronze hopes to interact with the students through school activities, including, but not limited to, activity fairs and school musical events based on the school’s preferences and Virginia Bronze member availability.
